Eyeglass Lenses: Your Choices Are Aplenty

November 22, 2021

Eyeglasses are a part of your daily needs just as much as food and clothes. That’s why you want to get a pair whose lenses are perfect for your requirements.

At the office of Oronoque Eye Care, our optometrists and other skilled professionals are experts at helping our customers with their eye health as well as choosing the eyeglasses and contact lenses that are right for them. We will scrupulously evaluate the health of your eyes and patiently answer all of your questions. Your care and comfort are our top priorities.

Eyeglass lenses used to be available only in glass. These days, however, you can choose from many types that are high-tech plastics. Take a look at what’s available.

High-index plastic: High-index means strong prescriptions. These lenses are thinner and lighter than the “Coke bottle” lenses you may have worn in the past.

Aspheric: They come in a variety of levels of curvature levels. This allows them to be flatter and thinner so a much bigger part of the surface is usable.

Polycarbonate: These are good for people who play sports because they’re impact-resistant.

Trivex: Their plastic is newer than but similar to polycarbonate. In addition to giving better vision correction for some folks, they’re thin and lightweight yet tough.

Photochromic: Their tint goes from clear to tinted when you’re out in the sun, so you needn’t switch to sunglasses. Caveat: If your vehicle’s windshield blocks UV rays, photochromics may not darken.

Polarized: They’re fabulous and quite handy for cutting down on glare from water and the sun. But it might be difficult for you to see the liquid crystal display on your vehicle’s dashboard.

You can also choose from a variety of coatings. The main ones are anti-reflective, tinted, mirrored, scratch-resistant and ultraviolet-protected. Each has its advantages.

Oronoque Eye Care’s team is made up of friendly specialists who are eager to help you feel comfortable and relaxed while receiving the very best in optical treatment. We have earned the trust of all of our clients and look forward to earning yours. For more information about our business and how we can help you, please don’t hesitate to stop in or call us to schedule an appointment!
